WindCalc for Palm OS Handhelds

WindCalc is a simple program for Palm OS devices that calculates the headwind or tailwind component and crosswind component for a given wind condition and runway.

WindCalc 2.2 uses slider controls to change the values of the wind direction and speed. The numbers and asterisks above and below the sliders can be tapped to quickly input a value. Above the wind direction slider the numbers and asterisks are separated by a value of 30 degrees while the numbers and asterisks below the wind speed slider are separated by a value of 5 knots.

The pushbuttons at the top of the screen are used to change the value by which the wind direction will jump when you tap the slider background on either side of the slider thumb. You can have the wind direction jump by either 1, 5, or 10 degrees.

A single tap on either the wind direction field or wind speed field will select and highlight the number automatically so that you can immediately enter a new number for that field in the graffiti area. Entering 3 digits for the wind value and 2 digits for the speed value will automatically calculate the wind components. When tapped, the small "C" button calculates the wind components with less than 3 direction values entered or less the 2 speed values, i.e. 25 degrees or 9 knots instead of 025 and 09.

* Both versions now support color.
* An additional file is included to support HandEra 330 handhelds.

Version 1.2 and 2.1 (May 22, 2001) - Both versions now include:
* A number bar for simpler entry of numbers into the wind direction and speed fields.
* A runway selection box that replaces the pop-up list for selecting the runway.
* Version 1.2 still runs on OS 3.0 or greater and 2.1 still needs OS 3.5 or greater.

Version 2.0 (April 25, 2001) - Requires Palm OS 3.5 or greater
* Completely redesigned user interface
* Incorporated the use of Slider controls

Version 1.1 (April 25, 2001) - Requires Palm OS 3.0 or greater
* Updated user interface
* Minor code changes

INSTALLATION:
Follow the documentation that came with your handheld to install the software onto your device.

The only file that needs to be installed is "WindCalc22.prc".
